how does an Air-Thru stock work?
I am looking into purchasing a Tippmann a5 paintball marker. i have picked out what i am going to purchase, and am currently looking at prices for accessories and i am making final decisions as to not waste any money. i would like someone to please explain to me how a commando air-thru stock works. i have scoured the internet, and i am totally unable to find any real descriptions. only prices and comparisons, which i might need eventually but not now.
so, how does it work? i would like a very dumbed down answer. i understand that some air-thru stocks lead to tanks on the players' backs, but i have seen videos of air-thru stocks working without said tanks. please help!

To begin with, almost all air through stocks require that you use a remote (a line to a tank) and therefore a vest or pack to carry the tank. RAP4 ( i think it's them) makes a stock that has a tank inside of it, but the tank has to be very small.
When a gun has an air through stock, a macro line (small air hose) is basically run run from the power tube (internals) of the gun, to the front of the stock, and then inside the stock to the back. At the bottom back corner there is a nipple to attach a remote line to. The whole idea behind the air through stock is to put the remote line even further out of your way. the only problem is trying to shoot lefty with that setup, but you'll get used to it.
In summary, it reroutes the the air line to the back of the stock where a remote line is attached, leading to a tank on your back.
